Sievers 14th At State In Discus
12 Jun 2009

Brittany Sievers finished 14th in the discus at the IHSAA Track and Field State Finals on Saturday in Bloomington to end her high school career.
The MHS senior finished the event with a throw of 120 feet, 5 inches.
“Overall, I was pleased,” Sievers said. “It wasn’t my best throw, but it was still really good. I’m getting consistently in the 120s, which is good.”
Sievers was just one foot away from making the finals, but came away with a positive experience.
“It was disappointing not making the finals, but just being there was awesome,” she said. “I wasn’t really nervous. We practiced in the morning and it felt good.”
Her first throw was her 120' 5" mark.
“On my second throw, my foot work was off,” she said. “My third throw felt good, but the wind got ahold of it.”
Sievers will be going to DePauw University where she will step in as the top discus thrower. She will also compete in the shot put, and will have to learn the hammer.
“I’m excited for college,” she said. “My college coach told me that we will have a meet here (Bloomington), which is great, because I love that ring.”
