Boys' Track Team Advance In Four Events

The Manchester High School boys’ track team advanced to the Kokomo Regional in three events and finished ninth at the Plymouth Sectional last week.
Plymouth won with 183 points, Culver Academies was second with 93, Triton was third with 80, Rochester was fourth with 73, North Miami was fifth with 55, Northfield was sixth with 41, Tippecanoe Valley was seventh with 34, Culver Community was eighth with 30, Manchester was ninth with 28, and Caston was 10th with 5.
Gavin McNeeley advanced to regional in the 200m dash, finishing fourth with a time of 23.68.
The 3200m relay team of Aaron Medley, Wilfred Lohiti, Cody Lambert, and Eddie Black finished second with a time of 8:29.68, while the 1600m relay team of Lohiti, Lambert, Kyle Henderson, and Medley finished third with a time of 3:39.23.
“Kyle wanted to run the 1600m run and took Gavin’s place,” Cassel said. “Gavin is a bit out of shape due to an injury, and felt it in the 200m dash. Kyle did a great job. Cody Lambert is also just tougher than nails and anchored that race.
In the 100m dash, Kyle Henderson finished 13th (12.02), and Rex Tharp was 18th (12.92);
In the 200m dash, Seth Dotson was 10th (24.69);
In the 400m dash, Trae Bruce was 15th (1:02.19), and Skyler Honeycutt was 17th (1:03.52);
In the 800m run, Aaron Medley was fifth (2:04.51), and Ben Jacobs was 10th (2:11.13). Medley moves on to regional due to an athlete scratching from the event.
In the 110m hurdles, J.J. Conley was eighth (17.42), and Broc Skaar was ninth (17.64);
In the 300m hurdles, Conley was seventh (44.99), and Skaar was 12th (47.46);
In the high jump, Steven Camp was 15th (5’3”);
In the long jump, Camp was 15th (16’6”), and Tharp was 18th (14’ 6”);
In the shot put, Justin O’Brien was eighth (40’ 4”), and Nate Cain was 12th (38’ 4 1/2”);
In the discus, O’Brien was ninth (124’ 5”), and Matt Bowman was 16th (115’ 11”).
“We did about what we expected to do,” Cassel said. “There weren’t any real big surprises. I’m pleased with the kids. We had a really good season. The boys’ team has really improved in the last few years. We’re becoming a more balanced tea, and that’s really important.”
Those advancing will be at the Kokomo Regional this Thursday.
