Swim Teams Have No Trouble With Canterbury

The Manchester High School swim teams handled Canterbury at home last week, with the girls winning 107-68, and the boys winning 120-37.
For the girls, Manchester won seven of the events, and finished second in seven.
Winning events were the 200 medley relay team of Scarlett Melton, Mackenzie Coulter-Kern, Leah McNeeley, and Kaytlyn Eberly (2:19.94), McNeeley in the 200 IM (2:49.41) and the 100 free (1:06.53), Eberly in the 50 free (29.45), Catherine Chapman in diving (158.30), Melton in the 100 butterfly (1:16.20), and the 200 free relay team of Coulter-Kern, Shelby Minnix, Chapman, and Elizabeth Schilling (2:00.04).
Coming in second place was Schilling in the 200 free (2:26.93) and the 500 free (6:46.90), Amelia Flora in the 50 free (30.78), Chapman in the 100 free (1:07.11), Melton in the 100 back (1:19.12), Marina Meinert in the 100 breast (1:29.92), and the 400 free relay team of Coulter-Kern, Schilling, McNeeley, and Melton (4:28.88).
Finishing in third place was the 200 medley relay team of Casey Brandenburg, Liza Terrill, Sydni Terrill, and Shelby Rager (2:33.35), Ashton Bradford in the 200 IM (3:13.90), Minnix in the 50 free (30.83) and the 100 free (1:08.52), Paige Woods in the 100 butterfly (1:31.05), Eberly in the 500 free (6:57.40), Rager in the 100 breast (1:32.02), and the 400 free relay team of Minnix, Flora, Bradford, and Eberly (4:40.30).
Fourth place results were Coulter-Kern in the 200 free (2:41.80), Kierston Ridenour in the 100 butterfly (1:33.71), Bradford in the 500 free (6:52.46), the 200 free relay team of Rebecca Ruppert, Casey Brandenburg, Paige Woods, and Kaity Clark (2:20.98), and Flora in the 100 back (1:24.76).
Coming in fifth place was the 200 medley relay team of L. Terrill, Clark, Rager, and Taylor Byers (2:44.53), Ruppert in the 200 free (2:43.74), L. Terrill in the 100 back (1:35.25), S. Terrill in the 100 breast (1:43.07), and the 400 free relay team of Ruppert, Byers, Woods, and Ridenour (5:10.61).
The boys’ team won nine of 12 events in beating Canterbury 120-37.
Winning events were the 200 free relay team of Gavin McNeeley, Josh Kissinger, Nate Cain, and D.J. Brown (1:36.18), the 400 free relay team of Joey Rich, Colin Buzzard, Ryan Henderson, and McNeeley (3:53.51), McNeeley in the 200 free (1:56.27) and the 100 breast (1:06.31), Henderson in the 50 free (26.51), Alex Sharfman in diving (104.1), Rich in the 100 butterfly (1:09.38) and the 100 back (1:07.29), and Buzzard in the 500 free (6:07.07).
Finishing second was the 200 medley relay team of Rich, Jacob Vogel, Andrew Baker, and Brown (2:01.51), Brown in the 200 IM (2:36.13) and the 100 back (1:11.92), Harris in the 50 free (27.80) and the 100 butterfly (1:15.40), Cain in the 100 free (58.07), Henderson in the 500 free (6:54.46), the 200 free relay team of Harris, Baker, Sharfman, and Andrew Asbury (1:57.37), and the 400 free relay team of Brown, Asbury, Baker, and Kissinger (4:14.41).
Coming in third was the 200 medley relay team of Cain, Buzzard, Max Mattern, and Asbury (2:06.65), Kissinger in the 200 free (2:11.30), Cain in the 200 IM (2:46.01), Vogel in the 100 butterfly (1:22.84), Baker in the 100 free (1:02.34), Mattern in the 500 free (7:00.87) and the 100 breast (1:20.91).
Fourth place results were Sharfman in the 50 free (32.13) and the 100 free (1:14.48), and Vogel in the 100 breast (1:21.98).
“We swam pretty well, but it’s time for us to start preparing for sectional,” said coach Kyle Wieland.
The girls’ swim team will be at the Warsaw Sectional on Thursday for preliminaries and Saturday for the finals.
